DE HAVILLAND VAMPIRE

With the prototype first flown in September 1943, and the T.11 in 1950, this aircraft was one of the forerunners in jet flight. Powered by a De Havilland Goblin 35 Turbojet, the Vampire was capable of 866kmh.

An initial 10 type FB 5 units were delivered to the SAAF in 1950, with an additional 10 FB Mk 6 aircraft in 1953. 
The FB Mk 52 was delivered in 1953, with 30 of this type being followed by 6 T11 units in 1953 and another 21
T55 aircraft during the period of 1954 to 1956.
