These were some of the men who were to fly 2500 sorties and deliver
8333 Tons of humanitarian aid into Berlin under very dangerous conditions.
The Soviets flew balloons in the corridors, fired anti aircraft guns in
close proximity to the approaching aircraft and "buzzed" them with fighter
aircraft.
